SurfIsland grew naturally from a lifetime spent on the water.
What started with a passion for windsurfing eventually expanded into surfing, wingfoiling and a broader vision of creating meaningful experiences around the ocean.
Over the years, that journey led to West Crete — a place where wind, waves, nature and local culture come together in a unique way.
Today, Surf Island is the result of that journey: a place built around the activities we love, the conditions we enjoy and the experiences we want to share with others.

The Story Behind Surf Island
My journey on the water started when I was ten years old.
One day, my godfather brought me a windsurf board and a small book called How to Learn Windsurfing in a Weekend. I still remember stepping onto that board for the first time. From that moment, I entered a completely new world — one that would eventually shape the course of my life.
From then on, every summer was spent chasing wind and spending as much time on the water as possible.
As I grew older and gained the freedom to travel and explore new conditions, I discovered what truly fascinated me: waves.
Windsurfing became more than a sport. It became a way of exploring coastlines, weather systems and different environments. Soon, surfing naturally became part of the journey as well, and I found myself spending more and more time searching for waves, whether with a sail or a surfboard.
Everything changed again when I moved to Crete for my postgraduate studies.
For the first time, I found a place that brought together everything I loved. A place where I could surf, windsurf, explore waves, enjoy strong wind conditions and spend every day connected to the sea.
Beyond the water, I discovered an island full of character, nature, culture and people who shared the same passion for outdoor life.
What started as a temporary chapter quickly became something much bigger.
After finishing my studies, I realized that West Crete was not simply a place I enjoyed visiting. It was the place where I wanted to build my life.
And that is where the idea of Surf Island began.

Behind our two stations in Falassarna and Kalamaki lies a system built around variety, consistency and experience. Two locations with different characteristics, working together to create the best possible conditions for every day on the water.
