Learning is more than standing on a board for the first time. It’s about building confidence, understanding the conditions and enjoying every step of the journey.
At Surf Island, our lessons are designed around your level, the daily weather and the spot that offers the best learning conditions. Whether you’re discovering surfing, windsurfing, wingfoiling or SUP, we focus on safe progression, quality equipment and plenty of time on the water.
With two different locations in West Crete and more than 25 years of local experience, we create lessons that are personal, enjoyable and adapted to every student.
Our goal is simple: to help you leave the beach with new skills, more confidence and the excitement to get back on the water.
Windsurfing Lessons
We offer lessons for beginners, intermediates and advanced windsurfers.

Beginner
lessons are done with specialized beginner equipment. In these lessons you learn basic theory and safety. At the end of the course you will be an independent rider, knowing how to tack and jibe, going upwind, beach start and return to the launch area. If you have a group of friends you can take the beginner lessons in a group of two or three people together.
Intermediate
lessons are considered a step up lesson where you will learn how to water-start, jibe, use a harness, use of foot straps, planing for the first time and blasting upwind. Here your confidence is built up and you are ready for the next level. Intermediate lessons are private.
Advanced
Chop Hop, Fast Tacks, Jumping, First Freestyle Tricks. Advanced lessons are private.
When you book a lesson we provide free equipment usage, subject to availability, after the lesson so you can practice.

Beginner
lessons are done with specialized beginner equipment. In this lesson you learn the basic theory and safety issues. At the end of the course you will be an independent rider, knowing how to pop up on the wave, puddle inside, chose your wave and knowing all the safety rules for you and the surfers around you. If you are a group of friends you can take the beginner lessons on group of two or three people together.
Beginner/Intermediate
lessons are considered a step up lesson. You will learn how to pick the right wave, how to gain speed from the wave, how to duck dive and correct your stance for better performance on the wave. Here your confidence is built up and you are ready for the next level. Beginner /Intermediate lessons are private.
Surf Trips
If you want to experience a surf trip to the best conditions for your surf lesson or you search the best waves for wave ride we organize small groups and we travel around the west part of the island for the best conditions that suit your level. Join us and HAVE FUN!

Here your confidence is built up and you are ready for the next level. Intermediate lessons are private.
